In IE9 the the Status Bar Progress is gone by design, but there is a third party version available for download. MS Office now sticks a "x" at the end of file extensions unless one saves files otherwise. Those without Office can not read. Word and Excel are no better than Word and Excel 5 I was using over 10 years ago, but they have sure changed how one accesses functions.
Windows 7 no can no longer be configured to the "Classic" GUI. The only advantage I've found in any Windows Microsoft "upgrade" since is accessing larger hard drives.
